The Fizz is my Poetry and Spoken word evenings held in the Refectory at Polesworth Abbey. Poets read in front of the fireplace that once warmed the poets of the Polesworth Circle, Michael Drayton, John Donne, Ben Jonson and some say William Shakespeare.
The Fizz gets its name from the abbreviation of the Polesworth Poets Trail, PPST – which when said sounds like the noise a bottle of pop makes when you first open it and the bubbles fizz up to the top.
The Fizz is held bi-monthly in January, March, May, July, September and November.
It takes the form of a guest poet plus open mic. – The open mic also welcomes story tellers and prose readers as well as the occasional singer.
Other features are the distinct posters designed individually for each event and the collectable small book programmes given out at each event.
Past Guest Poets at Fizz Events have included
